Gallery Serpentine male garments are designed to fit men whose height is between 5′ 7″ and 6′ 2″. If you are shorter or taller than these measurements you may need a custom size. We base our sizes on chest measurements and with most of our styles of shirts, waistcoats and jackets you will find that if you fit one size in a style you will generally fit the same size in other styles. For example if you fit a 42″ in a ‘Dr Dread’ then you will fit a 42″ in a ‘Dante’ Cravat Shirt. The exceptions to this rule are the Classic Cravat Shirt & Classic Pirate Shirt which are based on much older 18th century patterns and are therefore a looser more Byron style and fit.
Corset Sizing Information:
All our corsets are available in both standard sizes or custom fitted. Standard sized corsets are ordered by waist size (except the Lanei Bustier), please see the individual corset descriptions for how much smaller than your natural waist measurement you should order. If you wish to order a Custom size, vistit our custome size website and place your order choosing the custom fitted option and we will contact you with our measurement requirements.

MEASUREMENTS FOR WOMEN’S GARMENTS
UNDERBUST: measure around your chest, just below your bust.
WAIST: fitted over skin or underwear. Please note that it is your natural/true waist measurement that we need. This is the smallest part of your waist.
BUST:fitted over a bra at the fullest part of the bust, please note that this should be the measurement around your bust, not your bra size as bra size can differ from your actual measurement. However if you know that you are wider through the back and your bust cup is an A or B then please let us know as the measurement you give us may not reflect how your bust will sit into a corset.
CUP SIZE: bra cup size (ie A, B, C, DD etc)
SIDE LENGTH: measure from your armpit (with your arm down at your side) to the level of your natural waist. If you are a larger size and go in sharply at the waist, please don’t measure around the curve, but rather straight down to the level of the natural waist. Women between the heights of 5’4″ and 5’10″ are usually between 9 – 10 inches in this area.
WAIST COMPRESSIBILITY (optional): This is just to give us a guide of how compressible your waist is, if you’re not sure, just go with the standard compression. What we would like to know is whether your waist is very firm (ie won’t compress very much, quite common with very small sizes) or very soft ( ie will compress a great deal, in which case you might want a larger than normal waist compression). There is a ‘cinchability’ test you can use to help determine this. It will only be relevant for underbust corset styles that you desire on this ‘in stock & ready to ship’ website.
Measure yourself to get your natural/true waist measurement, take note of this measurement but keep the end of the tape measure in place. Pull the tape measure from your natural measurement as tightly as you can. Take note of the new reduced measurement. Take note of the difference between the original natural/true waist measurement and the new ‘max cinch’ measurement. That will give you your maximum cinchability. You need to be realistic and contemplate whether you would be comfortable wearing a corset at that maximum cinch measurement.
HIGH HIP: measured over underwear or lightweight clothing around the high hip bone area.
LOW HIP: measured over underwear or lightweight clothing at the fullest part of the hips (this may be over the buttocks if that is where you are widest/fullest)
SKIRT LENGTH: measure this from the side of the waist, down your leg to the desired hem length for the front/side of the skirt. If the skirt you are wishing to order has a train (ie. is longer at the back than front), please do not take that intoconsideration when you are measuring. We only want to know the required length for the front/side of the skirt.
DRESS LENGTH: measure this from the side of the neck (where it meets the shoulder) down the front of the body (over one breast) and then all the way down to the desired hem length for the dress
SHOULDER WIDTH: measure across the front of the shoulders from side to side. Average is approximately 40 cms (16 inches)
HEIGHT: your height in feet and inches (ie 5′ 6″ etc)
MEASUREMENTS FOR MEN’S GARMENTS
BICEP: Measure around the largest part of your upper arm
CHEST: measured around the chest (at nipple height) over skin or lightweight clothing (shirt etc)
WAIST: fitted over skin or underwear. Please note that it is your natural waist measurement that we need.
NECK SIZE: your standard neck size for shirts or if you’re not sure then measure around the base of your neck (where a shirt collar would sit)
LENGTH (FOR COATS ETC): measure this from the side of the neck (where it meets the shoulder) down the front of the body all the way down to the desired hem length for the coat
HEIGHT: your height in feet and inches (ie 5′ 6″ etc)
